Kaslow’s work starkly captures post-conflict zones all over the world, in the form of portraits of victims, perpetrators, eyewitnesses and sur­vivors. These photographs are accompanied by captions that explore the stories of the featured individuals who have been personally impacted by the conflict, conveying from whence they’ve come, what has transpired since the image was taken and what the future might hold, socially and economically, for these people and their part of the globe.

Victims, Perpetrators, Eyewitnesses and Survivors: Life After War exhibition

Vassar College’s Palmer Gallery is hosting a solo show of photographer, journalist, and Vassar alumna Amy Kaslow. For the past 30 years, Kaslow has traveled the world with her camera to capture the reverberations of war on survivors. The exhibition, “Victims, Perpetrators, Eyewitnesses and Survivors: Life after War”, features over 25 works that chronicle, among other tragedies, the aftermath of ethnic strife in the Balkans, the war between Iran and Iraq, the Israeli-alestinian conflict, and the Rwandan genocide. For three decades, photographer Amy Kaslow has chronicled the stories of lives disrupted by war.
